Theoretical Computation of Transmission Coefficient of Double Quantum Well Triple Barrier Structure in Presence of Electric Field

A numerical computation for determination of transmission coefficient of a double quantum well triple barrier structure is carried out considering GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs material composition for finite contact barrier thickness to estimate the probability of resonance at specific energy values less than barrier potential in presence and absence of electric field using transfer matrix technique. Barrier width and well width are varied independently considering effective mass mismatch at junctions, and also barrier height is changed to observe the effect on transmission coefficient. Electric field is also varied to study its consequence on resonance tunneling, and profiles are compared with the observations when electric field is absent. Effective mass and barrier height are considered as function of mole fraction of Al throughout the analysis for more realistic results.
